Chase Young may have to purchase a trophy case by the time award season is over. The outstanding defensive end continues to pile up the accolades since the end of the season.
On Wednesday, Young was named the winner of the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the top defensive end in college football. That announcement isn’t much of a surprise, with the Buckeye being one of four finalists for the 2019 Heisman Trophy.
Young is the first player in Ohio State history to receive the honor, and the fourth from a B1G school.
This season, Young led the nation with 16.5 sacks and tallied 21 tackles for loss. He also forced six fumbles and blocked a kick this year for the Buckeyes. He helped lead Ohio State to a perfect 13-0 season, a B1G title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Below is a list of the awards and accomplishments for Young this season:
- B1G Defensive Player of the Year
- B1G Defensive Lineman of the Year
- Chicago Tribune Silver Football Award
- Ted Hendricks Award
- Bronko Nagurski Trophy
