Eli Apple has had an interesting pre-draft evaluation period, to say the least. The former Ohio State cornerback was asked by the Atlanta Falcons if he was gay, to which they later apologized for.

On Wednesday, things got weirder for Apple.

In a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article on the defensive back prospects, one anonymous scout had a bizarre critique of him.

“…I worry about him because of off-the-field issues. The kid has no life skills. At all. Can’t cook. Just a baby. He’s not first round for me. He scares me to death.”

It’s fairly common for anonymous scouts to knock a guy in hopes that it’ll scare off other teams. Usually, their opinions don’t carry much weight.

But saying a guy has “no life skills” and “can’t cook” is out there.

Apple’s mom took exception to the latter. She voiced an entertaining and telling response to the claim that her son “couldn’t cook.”

If there was ever a good reason not to do much cooking around the house, that’s it. And even if Apple doesn’t know his way around the kitchen, the thought that it would be worth mentioning from an anonymous scout is ludicrous.

Let’s just put an end to anonymous scout claims and let the tape do the talking. Whether he can cook or not, Apple is expected to be one of the first cornerbacks off the board on Thursday night when the NFL draft kicks off.

And just for the record…
