Ohio State won’t get credit for producing the top three selections in the 2020 NFL Draft, but the program still deserves some credit. At one time, all of those players taken in the first three spots were all teammates.

The Cincinnati Bengals took LSU quarterback Joe Burrow at No. 1, the Washington Redskins took Ohio State defensive end Chase Young at No. 2 and Buckeyes cornerback Jeff Okudah was taken No. 3 by the Detroit Lions, making up the first three picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. In 2017, all three of those players were teammates.

That’s not something that happens too often.

Young and Okudah stuck around Columbus and helped lead the Buckeyes to three-straight B1G titles and three New Year’s Six bowl games, as well as one College Football Playoff appearance. Burrow, however, decided to leave Ohio State before the 2018 and continue his college career at LSU.

Burrow went on to lead the Tigers to an undefeated season, an SEC title, a national championship and was named the winner of the 2019 Heisman Trophy. It worked out pretty well for the Ohio native in Baton Rouge.

Urban Meyer, the former Ohio State head coach who recruited all three players, has to have a pretty big smile on his face after tonight.
