Ohio State didn’t just get a big win over an impressive top 10 opponent on Saturday. They also won over Joe Six-Pack.

The Saturday game pitting No. 3 Ohio State against Indiana (then-No. 9) produced an exciting and thrilling game that dominated in the ratings. The Big Ten game, which aired on FOX, was the most-watched program on any network on Saturday.

The game drew an impressive 4.3 rating.

Perhaps most impressive was the fact that the game aired at noon, not exactly prime time viewing and a tough watch on the West Coast. The rating was surely helped by the limited attendance allowed at Ohio State but the rating is still beyond impressive and shows the national appeal of the B1G and the Buckeyes in particular.

The game, as expected, did well in the heartland and in Columbus, OH as well as Indianapolis.

Not only did it roll over the competition on Saturday, but the game was also a winner for FOX in becoming the most-watched college football game of the season. Ratings for college football and most sports have suffered this year.

Hopefully the conference continues to do well on the field and in the ratings. Every little bit helps without fan attendance in 2020.
