Baron Browning is expected to begin the 2023 season on the Physically Unable to Preform list, the Denver Broncos announced Tuesday afternoon.

Browning, who is entering his 3rd NFL season out of Ohio State, recently had surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus. That injury expected to keep him out for several weeks at the start of the regular season, per head coach Sean Payton.

If Browning does start the season the PUP list as expected, he would miss at least the first 6 weeks of the regular season.

Browning was a 3rd round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and has already earned a significant role with the Broncos. He’s started 17 games over the past 2 seasons. He’s also recorded 82 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 1 interception.

Another former Buckeye could be in line to earn more reps as Denver looks to replace Browning on the depth chart. Jonathan Cooper, a 7th round pick out of Ohio State in 2021, started 9 games for the Broncos last season.
