J.T Barrett might not be getting much preseason All-American hype, but the oddsmakers believe that he’s on the short list of Heisman Trophy candidates.

Bovada released its updated odds for college football’s top honor, and like he was in January, Barrett was among the four favorites.

As you can see, Barrett is still tied for fourth in the latest odds, but his odds went from 12-to-1 to 10-to-1:

Is there any on-the-field reason that Barrett’s odds dropped slightly? Probably not, but that’s the offseason for you.

Barrett finished fifth in the Heisman voting as a redshirt freshman in 2014 after posting a B1G record 45 touchdowns. This is his first full offseason as the Buckeye starter.

Barrett was the only B1G player listed among the top 21 candidates. Leonard Fournette, Deshaun Watson and Christian McCaffrey still had more favorable odds than Barrett, but now he’s in a three-way tie with Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield and Florida State’s Dalvin Cook.

The last B1G player to win the Heisman Trophy was Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith.
