In the beginning of the season, J.T. Barrett was in the discussion, but he certainly had plenty of names to jump past.

Christian McCaffrey, Deshaun Watson, Leonard Fournette, Baker Mayfield and Dalvin Cook were just a few of the names with equal or better Heisman Trophy odds than the Ohio State quarterback.

After three games, Barrett is already ahead of all of them.

The latest Bovada LV Heisman odds have Barrett at No. 2 behind only Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Entering last week, Barrett was tied with Watson for third and he trailed McCaffrey, who was the favorite.

That was before arguably the most impressive victory of Barrett’s career. He threw four touchdown passes and ran for 74 yards in a 45-24 win at No. 14 Oklahoma.

On the season, Barrett now has 13 total touchdowns, 809 total yards and one interception. The Buckeyes are up to No. 2 in the country in both polls, with some even saying they should be No. 1.

Will Barrett remain on the short list of Heisman candidates? He did finish fifth in the voting two years ago after setting a B1G record with 45 touchdowns. His case obviously improves the more Ohio State keeps winning. A Louisville loss to Clemson would help Barrett rise to the top of the list.

It’s early, but it certainly looks like Barrett is back to his 2014 self.
