Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow was carted from the field during the third quarter of Sunday’s game with Washington.

The reports are that Burrow, a rookie from LSU, has a left knee injury and will not return for the remainder of the game.

Burrow was hit on his left leg and near his shoulder during a third-down play and remained on the ground for several minutes before the cart was summoned.

As the cart pulled off, Burrow’s Bengals teammates surrounded the cart, wishing him well. Several Washington players also came to give the rookie encouragement, including fellow rookie and former OSU teammate Chase Young.

Burrow was 22-for-34 passing on the day, for 203 yards and a touchdown before the injury.

It’s a tough blow for such a young player. For now, all fans can do is hope and pray that Burrow’s injury is not serious. It would be a shame for Burrow to miss a large chunk of time as a rookie in the NFL.
