The NCAA Tournament is almost here and sports bettors are getting prepared.

And some are just winging it, it seems. A New York bettor placed a $500 wager on Ohio State to win the National Championship this season against 3000-1 odds. If he were to somehow win, he would net $1.5 million.

Those familiar with Ohio sports betting and Ohio State sports in general probably wouldn’t advise this type of action. The Buckeyes have far underperformed in the B1G this season, and will finish no better than 5-14 in the B1G. They’re locked into a 13-seed in the upcoming B1G tournament.

What would have to happen for them to win the whole thing is astronomical. First, they’d have to traverse a tough B1G and win the conference bracket, beating out the likes of Purdue, Northwestern, Indiana and so on.

Then they would be a sub-11 seed team looking to win the national title, which has never happened before. The lowest seed to win a national championship was Villanova in 1985 as the 8-seed.
