Boo Corrigan was watching the Utah-USC game with the implications in mind. The College Football Playoff Committee chair talked about what it could mean for Ohio State in the future.

Ohio State is holding on to the No. 5 spot as it stands. The Buckeyes would be the next in line for the fourth spot with USC’s loss. Corrigan discussed how the committee values winning championships. Ohio State was not able to play in the B1G title game this season after losing to Michigan in Columbus.

“You know, we do value championships and winning of championships,” Corrigan said. “But again, as we look at this whole thing, we’re looking at a body of work. And they do have the added 13th game. But again, it folds into everything overall throughout the season that we’re looking at. And (Utah quarterback) Cam Rising played a great game last night. (USC quarterback) Caleb Williams — what a warrior, right? To go through that game, cuts it to three with about 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, just a great game and a lot of fun to watch.”

The committee will have a lot to think about now that the Trojans have lost a second game. The Buckeyes fate will be in their hands.
