It’s official, Jeff Hafley will be the next head coach at Boston College.

Late Friday night, Yahoo Sports! writer Pete Thamel reported that Boston College was working on finalizing a deal to make Hafley the next head football coach for the program. During College GameDay on Saturday morning, the announcement was made official.

Hafley will take over as the head coach at Boston College, replacing Steve Addazio. He heads to Chestnut Hill after spending one season as the co-defensive coordinator at Ohio State, completely revamping the Buckeye defense.

According to Brett McMurphy of Stadium, Hafley will be introduced during a press conference on Monday at 9 a.m.

Hafley, 40, spent just one season in Columbus as a co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach. He turned the Buckeyes’ defense into one of the most dominant in college football, as Ohio State improved from No. 72 in total defense to No. 2 this year.

Hafley was a finalist for the Frank Broyles Award, presented to the most outstanding assistant coach in college football.

According to Thamel, Hafley met with Boston College officials on Thursday and it was his second interview for the position. He is expected to be formally announced as the next head coach soon.

Thamel also reports that Hafley is expected to stay in his role as co-defensive coordinator with Ohio State through the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes play Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 28.
