Wilson was named head coach at Tulsa following the firing of Philip Montgomery but elected to stay on staff through the Buckeyes’ College Football Playoff game against Georgia.

It is unclear if Hartline will serve as the primary play-caller for the 2023 season. Buckeyes coach Ryan Day has called all offensive plays since his days as offensive coordinator starting in 2017. According to ESPN, Day said he would consider relinquishing the play-calling duties next season to another assistant.

A native of Ohio, Hartline played for the Buckeyes from 2005-2008. He spent 7 seasons in the NFL, splitting time between the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns. Hartline finished his career with 344 receptions for 4,766 yards and 14 touchdowns.
