The brother of ex-Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith needed to post one final message in regards to the scandal at Ohio State.

In a Twitter post late Saturday night, Carter Smith shared a revealing message, detailing how the scandal involving Zach Smith has affected his family over the past month. He also stood up for his brother, saying that “Zach Smith never beat Courtney Smith.”

Zach Smith has been reportedly arrested twice — 2009 and 2015 — on domestic violence charges against his ex-wife.

Carter Smith first detailed how the media negatively affected his family name, a charity event in the name of his grandfather, Earl Bruce, and a family business. Then, he jumped to his brother’s defense.

Here’s a snippet from Carter Smith’s tweet:

Zach Smith never beat Courtney Smith. That is the first and foremost fact that needs to be said. Because at the end of the day: affairs, sex toys, and whatever other immoral behavior is alleged is really only to be judged by God. The only behavior that matters is actual abuse to another human. Courtney Smith is guilty of abusing her husband, her mother, and her mother-in-law. Zach Smith may be a lot of things, but a woman beater is not one of them.

I’ve witnessed arguments between them, Zach was always have to defend himself. I can vividly remember one time when Courtney came home after midnight and had one too many cocktails, she slammed every door on her way in and then proceed to scream and yell while essentially running at Zach because their daughter had woken up (most likely due to the slamming doors). Now Zach didn’t attack back, he didn’t do anything but remove himself from that situation and go tend to his (now awake) infant daughter.

Here’s the full message from Carter Smith:

Zach Smith was fired after Brett McMurphy’s report surfaced, claiming that Zach had reportedly been arrested for committing domestic violence against Courtney Smith while on staff at Ohio State in 2015.

Head coach Urban Meyer was then investigated for his alleged knowledge of the situation involving his assistant coach.

Zach Smith was fired by Ohio State in July.
