After being taken 5th overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft, Denzel Ward is entering his 5th season in the league. And the 2-time Pro Bowler was rewarded for his play during the offseason, signing a 5-year contract extension with the team in April worth $100.5 million.

On Sunday, Ward was revealed at No. 87 on the annual “NFL Top 100” list voted on by the league’s players. It’s the first-ever appearance for the former Ohio State star as he comes in 2 slots above longtime friend and former Buckeye teammate Marshon Lattimore.

Ward totaled 43 tackles and 3 interceptions in 2021, including a 99-yard touchdown return in Week 9. He also allowed a career-low 9.3 yards per reception.

Ward is part of a Browns defense that is looking to reverse the team’s fortunes after finishing 2020 with a first playoff appearance since 2002. In 2021, Cleveland struggled to an 8-9 record and a 3rd place finish in the AFC North.
