Ohio State defensive back Ryan Turner became the latest player to get rid of the black stripe on his helmet.

It has been a recent tradition for Ohio State newcomers to have a black stripe placed down the middle of the helmet where the signature red stripe should be. Turner was forced to wear a black stripe on his helmet until he earned the right to wear the helmet that the rest of the team wears.

Turner, a freshman, is in his 1st season at Ohio State and he has started to make a great impression on his teammates and coaching staff. This ceremony is meant to motivate the team to work harder and to have everyone earn their spot on the team.

He has not played on defense this season, but he could see playing time later in the season. Turner is a former 4-star high school recruit from Hollywood, Florida, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. In high school, Turner was ranked as the No. 37 cornerback in the country in his recruiting class.

He picked Ohio State over Arkansas, Boston College, and Clemson. Turner hopes to have a great college career at Ohio State.

Ohio State hosts Wisconsin on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
