For the first time all season, the Buckeyes are out of the playoff picture.

Ohio State fell to No. 8 in the latest College Football Playoff poll following its first loss of the season. The Buckeyes were beat on a last-second field goal by Michigan State, which moved past OSU and claimed the No. 5 spot.

The Buckeyes were one of three unbeatens to suffer their first loss on Saturday, all of which dropped in the top 25. One of those two remaining unbeatens, Iowa, came in at No. 4.

Ohio State does have a chance to pick up its first top-25 victory of the season when it travels to take on Michigan, which came in at No. 10.

If the Buckeyes could do that, they would still need Penn State to knock off Michigan State in order to earn a spot in the B1G Championship.

At this point, the Buckeyes would need a lot of help to move back into the top four by the time the final poll is released on Dec. 6.
