Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class received a major bump on Tuesday evening.
The Buckeyes received a commitment from 4-star running back Mark Fletcher out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was also considering Michigan, Miami and Penn State as potential landing destinations.
Fletcher made his announcement live on CBS Sports HQ. He becomes the seventh player of the 2023 recruiting class to commit to Ohio State. The class ranks as one of the Top 10 in the country, per 247Sports.
Fletcher is listed just outside of the Top 150 overall prospects in the class, per 247Sports. He ranks as No. 153 among all recruits in 2023 and is the No. 8 running back, as well.
From 247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins:
A big, physically imposing back for his age. Has already tipped the scales at over 225 pounds. Spent sophomore season serving as the offensive workhorse for an American Heritage team that went 11-2 and won a state title. Runs just as physical as he looks. Powerful enough at this stage to shed multiple tacklers as he fights for yards. Good vision at the line of scrimmage allows him to locate his blocks and clear the first wave.
During the 2021 season at American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Fletcher rushed for 779 yards and 13 touchdowns on 110 attempts. He also caught 12 passes for 171 yards.
Over the course of his three seasons at the high school level, Fletcher has totaled 2,509 rushing yards, 472 receiving yards and 36 total touchdowns.
Below are some of Fletcher’s high school highlights:
