Three-star cornerback Devonta Smith announced his verbal commitment to Ohio State on Monday. He created a video that he shared on Twitter to make his announcement official.

Smith is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and is listed as a 6-foot, 185-pound cornerback, per 247Sports. He’s ranked as the No. 428 recruit overall of the cycle and is listed as the No. 32 cornerback in the class. He’s also ranked 14th out of Ohio.
Ohio State was competing with over two dozen schools for Smith’s commitment, as he received 29 total offers. He had offers from Alabama, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin, among others.
With Smith’s commitment, Ohio State now owns the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class. He’s the 12th player to give his verbal pledge and the seventh player from Ohio to pledge.
