Finally, the decision we’ve all been waiting eight months for has been made.

Cardale Jones is the starter at quarterback for No. 1 Ohio State. J.T. Barrett is officially the nation’s best backup…and the only one with a national championship victory to speak of.

Urban Meyer held true to his word that he would not announce the starting quarterback to the media. Jones took the first snap under center in Blacksburg, which would theoretically make him the starter.

“Throughout the 2015 season, they’re both going to play,” Meyer said on ESPN before the game.

Meyer repeatedly said that both quarterbacks could play in the opener. Whether or not Barrett or even Braxton Miller gets significant reps under center remains to be seen.

At the very least, now we know who is No. 1 on the depth chart. The only question is, will it get the Buckeyes over the hump against Virginia Tech?
