The first quarter of the NFC Championship should’ve made it perfectly clear — Ohio State has a strong representation on the league’s best team.

That was obvious when former Buckeye receivers Ted Ginn and Corey (Philly) Brown each scored early touchdowns to jump-start a rout of the Arizona Cardinals.

That was only part of what turned out to be a memorable day for former Buckeyes. Kurt Coleman had two interceptions to stymie Arizona, and Bradley Roby made the play of the game in the AFC Championship when he hauled in Tom Brady’s failed two-point conversion pass to close out the victory for the Denver Broncos.

Perhaps fitting of the championship games, Ohio State will have the best representation of any college team in Super Bowl 50. The Buckeyes will have five players on the two active Super Bowl rosters, six if you include the injured Jeff Heuerman.

Tennessee, led by Peyton Manning, was second with four active players.

The B1G had three other teams with multiple players represented. Maryland, Michigan and Wisconsin all have two guys apiece. In all, 17 players from 10 current B1G teams will be represented.

Here’s a breakdown of Super Bowl teams each B1G team:

Ohio State — 5

Maryland — 2

Michigan — 2

Wisconsin — 2

Indiana — 1

Iowa — 1

Michigan State — 1

Northwestern — 1

Penn State —1

Purdue — 1
