Ohio State still controls its own destiny.

That much was shown in the College Football Playoff poll on Tuesday, which again saw the Buckeyes earn the No. 3 spot. Ohio State wasn’t in danger of falling out of the top four after rolling to a 28-3 win against Illinois.

The Buckeyes’ top-four standing could be at risk when they take on their first ranked opponent of the year on Saturday. The Buckeyes’ showdown against Michigan State could also determine who represents the East in the B1G Championship.

The No. 9 Spartans were one of five B1G teams that came in behind the Buckeyes. Iowa was slotted at No. 5 while Michigan earned the No. 12 spot, Northwestern came in at No. 20 and idle Wisconsin was ranked No. 25.

For the Buckeyes to lock up their second straight playoff spot, they’ll need to pick up wins against potentially three top-15 teams to end the season.

College GameDay will be on hand for the Buckeyes’ showdown at Michigan State on Saturday.
