Carnell Tate is having a homecoming of sorts during Ohio State’s game against Northwestern inside Wrigley Field. The young receiver hails from Chicago, and he is playing some elite football on Saturday.
With Ohio State driving and less than a minute before halftime, quarterback Will Howard put up a pass to Tate who was streaking down the sideline. Tate beat his man off the line of scrimmage, but the throw would require a full extension dive.
Tate delivered just that and was able to snare the diving grab as he landed into the end zone. It’s a picture-perfect catch that ultimately needed multiple camera angles inside the cramped confines of Wrigley Field.
Here’s how the live broadcast captured the catch and the multiple angles of Tate’s grab:

Tate also had another catch that required a layout grab through contact earlier in the second quarter. He enters halftime as Ohio State’s leading receiver with 44 yards and the touchdown on 3 grabs.
Head coach Ryan Day was complimentary of Tate’s grab heading into halftime:
“He found a way to go catch that ball, I don’t know if many can do that. I mean, he just found a way, turned his body, landed on his back,” said Day.
