CJ Stroud continues to make his case to be the top overall pick in this year’s draft, impressing NFL teams and a contingent from the Carolina Panthers at his Pro Day on Wednesday.
After Stroud’s workout, Carolina Panthers QB coach Josh McCown also dropped what at least sounded like a telling comment to Stroud. While the actual wording from McCown has been debated on social media, he made a reference to a game of “horse” when Stroud is “in Charlotte.”
“That was great, that was awesome,” said McCown in reference to Stroud’s workout.
“We’ll find a court, play some horse or something,” McCown said about a basketball matchup between the two. When Stroud interjected, McCown cut him off with what sounded like “Maybe when you live in Charlotte we’ll find a court.”
Some fans have disputed that those are the exact words McCown used, but whether it is a pre-draft visit or plans to draft the QB with the first pick, it sounds like McCown definitely expects Stroud to be in Carolina at some point down the road.

Then the two proceed to schedule a game of horse, Stroud saying “I’m gonna take his money.”
