CBS Sports college football analyst Randy Cross gave Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. high praise and an award for his most recent performance against Arkansas State.

Harrison put up great numbers in the 2 wins over Notre Dame and Arkansas State. His role expanded at the start of the season with injuries to a few Ohio State receivers.

On the latest episode of CBS Sports Network’s Inside College Football, Cross gave the game ball to Harrison. Cross explained why he picked Harrison:

“Marvin Harrison Jr. stepped up and more than filled the role (of Jaxon Smith-Njigba),” said Randy Cross. “Fine game young man, you’ve got a bright future ahead of you and your dad must be proud.”

Ohio State missed Smith-Njigba and Julian Fleming in the Arkansas State game and Harrison filled in for the 2 receivers. He had 7 catches, 184 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns on Saturday.

Cross also referenced Harrison’s father, Marvin Harrison Sr., who was a Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts. The younger Harrison will always be linked to his legendary father and he has started to blaze his own path in college football.

With Smith-Njigba and Fleming trying to get back in the fold, Ohio State has a solid contingency plan with Harrison. Ohio State kicks off Week 3 against Toledo on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
