Chris Holtmann said he’d be lying if he said Malaki Branham and E.J. Liddell becoming NBA draft picks wasn’t a big reason why Ohio State is now having more success landing highly ranked recruits.

Holtmann had 2 players drafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, his first draft picks since 2018. Malaki Branham was taken 20th overall by the San Antonio Spurs, and EJ Liddell was picked 41st overall by the New Orleans Pelicans.
The draft picks have seemed to help recruiting, as Ohio State has the No. 8 overall recruiting class for 2022, and the No. 5 overall for 2023, with 3 4-stars already committed.
The Buckeyes had a solid season a year ago, going 20-12 and losing in the second round of the NCAA tournament at the hands of Villanova.
