Thursday was Key’s first game back since injuring his shoulder against No. 1 Purdue on Jan. 5. Key played for 30 minutes and recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds after coming off the bench.
“Looking back, I think I made a mistake playing (Zed Key) so long,” said Holtmann.

With Key’s scoring output of 12.3 points per game, it made sense that Holtmann decided to play the Ohio State forward for 30 minutes even after returning from injury. Hopefully the extra playing time does not set Key back in his recovery.
Ohio State will need move on from the loss and begin preparing for a tough matchup with Rutgers next. The last game between the two B1G schools ended with an Ohio State buzzer beater. The Buckeyes will be trying to snap a three-game losing streak.
Tipoff from Rutgers will be Sunday at 2:15 p.m. ET on BTN.
