EJ Liddell is heading to the NBA. After three outstanding seasons in Columbus, the do-it-all forward has decided to make the leap to the next level.

Liddell made his announcement on Friday to declare for the 2022 NBA Draft. Because he’s hiring an agent, he will not be allowed to retain his college eligibility.

On Saturday, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann spoke on the legacy Liddell will leave behind in Columbus. He had nothing but high praise for the All-B1G forward.

“I’m really excited for EJ as he begins his NBA career. He has developed and grown significantly as a player every single year as a Buckeye, and that will continue to be the case as an NBA player,” Holtmann said in a statement. “EJ has represented our program at the highest level with his excellent play, leadership and, of course, his trademark smile. EJ will always be a Buckeye. We love you, my man.”

Liddell averaged 19.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.5 assists per game for the Buckeyes this season. He finished the year posting 9 double-doubles and scored 20 points or more in 13 contests.

Over his 3-year career in Columbus, Liddell played in 92 games and made 62 starts. He totaled 1,298 points, 564 rebounds, 146 assists and 143 blocks.
