Confidence is oozing out of Columbus. With Ohio State owning a 7-0 record, beating every opponent on the schedule by at least 24 points, why wouldn’t it be?
This week, though, the Buckeyes are expected to face the biggest challenge of the season, hosting Wisconsin for a B1G showdown at Ohio Stadium. Though the Badgers are coming off a stunning loss, they’ve still been considered one of the top teams in the land thus far.
A big aspect of that is the defense. Wisconsin has already secured four shutout victories and is holding teams to an average of 7.6 points per game, the best mark in the country.
Ohio State’s offense is facing a big test. And while the Buckeyes understand just how impenetrable Wisconsin’s defense has been most of the season, they’re still confident they can move the football if they do what they’re supposed to do.
“We believe we’re the best in the country,” said wide receiver Chris Olave told Eleven Warriors. “We believe we have the best offense and we’re going against the best defense, so we’ll see how that goes.”
Ohio State ranks third in scoring offense this year, averaging 49.7 points per game. The Buckeyes also rank third in rushing offense and fifth in total offense on the year.
It’s going to be quite the test for the Badgers’ defense, as well. But that’s why Saturday’s game has been marked as one of the top matchups in the B1G this season. It should be an entertaining contest in Columbus.
