Chris Olave has drawn the attention of new quarterback Derek Carr with the New Orleans Saints, and the former Ohio State wide receiver made a memorable play on Tuesday during OTA workouts.

Olave went up and caught a deep pass from Carr with Marcus Maye in coverage, as it proved he can gain Carr’s trust with contested catches. Carr told Olave that he needed the wide receiver to make a play during a certain alignment.

“He loves to work, he keeps his head down, doesn’t say much until it’s time,” Carr said. “… He went up there, got the ball, and we’re just building on that. Watching him run, it’s been a treat, him and Rashid (Shaheed) can fly, and not only can they fly, they can run routes and play football, so it’s fun for me to watch.”

Olave made an immediate impact as a rookie in 2022, and in 15 games with 9 starts, Olave caught 72 passes for 1,042 yards and 4 touchdowns.
