One of the top tight ends of this recruiting cycle has decided to continue his football career in his home state.

Tuesday, Ohio State received a commitment from three-star tight end Joe Royer, a native of Cincinnati. That’s a significant addition for the Buckeyes, as he’s ranked as the No. 13 tight end of the 2020 recruiting class.

Royer made his announcement on Twitter on Tuesday. He became the 16th player in this cycle to commit to the Buckeyes.

Royer will serve as a big target at the tight end position in Ohio State’s offense. He measures 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 255 pounds. His size is just part of the reason he’s one of the top tight ends in the class.

According to 247Sports, Royer is the only tight end currently committed in Ohio State’s 2020 class.

The Buckeyes still own the B1G’s top-ranked recruiting class and sit fourth nationally. but the addition of Royer helps close the gap on Alabama and LSU, which rank second and third, respectively.
