CJ Stroud and the Buckeyes do not lack confidence. Part of that is putting together one of the best offensive attacks in the nation last season with a number of key pieces back for 2022.

Unfortunately, Ohio State was doomed in 2 key losses last season: against Oregon and at Michigan. The 2nd loss came to the Wolverines in the last game of the season and ultimately decided the B1G East.

In a recent conversation with Howard Griffith of the Big Ten Network, Stroud was asked about the goals for 2022. Stroud said the main thing for the Buckeyes is to simply execute.

He went on to say the biggest enemy for the Buckeyes is when “we beat ourselves.”

“I mean, for me, I just think execute,” said Stroud as transcribed by Sam Marsdale with 247 Sports. “I definitely think, as an offense, we execute. I mean, the only time I feel like whenever we lose is when we beat ourselves — and that’s no shade to any other team, but it’s just the truth, you know what I mean? And so, I definitely think whenever we play our best game and we just execute — when it’s time to execute in the red zone and on third down and when it’s hard — I definitely think that, if we can be tough in those moments, then we can be able to reach our goals and our dreams.”

We’ll see if Stroud and the Buckeyes can back that up with a strong run to the College Football Playoff this season.
