CJ Stroud is trying to follow in the footsteps of Justin Fields by becoming another budding young star in the NFL. However, there’s one area Stroud is not interested in trying to follow behind Fields.

In his meeting with the press Friday, Stroud expressed support for Fields while saying he “ain’t no damn running back… He can sling it.” Stroud also said he’s not interested in going to the Chicago Bears because “That’s Justin’s team.”

Stroud also went in-depth on his respect for Fields while putting together the kind of sophomore season he had with the Bears in 2022. Stroud knows what it means for Fields’ character:

“I was proud of him, man,” Stroud said. “There’s so many times when you get knocked back down, but I feel like a true man’s character is when you get knocked down, you get up. And he’s got up every time, and he’s stepped up to the plate, and he hasn’t blamed anybody; he hasn’t pointed no fingers; and he hasn’t anything. As a human, that just shows you what type of man he is and what type of family he comes from. Just knowing him as a person, I mean, that’s really cool just because it’s hard, man.”

We’ll see how Stroud looks when it comes to the on-field workouts, but it is cool to see the two former Buckeyes maintain a strong bond heading into the NFL.
