CJ Stroud had the best game of his young career on Sunday as he lead the Houston Texans to a 37-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Stroud had 280 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 20-for-30 passing. It was an encouraging early performance for the former Ohio State quarterback and he’ll only be looking to build off of it moving forward.

The big game earned Stroud some praise from a few big names.

JJ Watt took to social media to give his compliments to the rookie quarterback of his former team.

“It’s VERY early, but CJ Stroud is a rookie quarterback who has been playing without the majority of his starting offensive line, under heavy pressure and yet he’s been poised, confident and in control,” Watt said on X. “Again, it’s early, but Houston has to be excited right now.”

Watt wasn’t the only one who gave Stroud props, though. He got a call from is former coach after the game.

Stroud said Ohio State head coach Ryan Day called him after the game to offer him congratulations. Day was Stroud’s coach for 3 seasons at Ohio State.
