CJ Stroud has been regarded as one of the top overall prospects in this year’s draft class for much of the process. In fact, Stroud was the betting favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick for a while.

Following a strong NFL Combine performance and the Carolina Panthers trading up to the No. 1 pick, Stroud jumped in the betting odds to be the top player selected. However, Alabama’s Bryce Young is now the overwhelming favorite to be selected by the Panthers.

While Young’s intangibles appear to be swaying Carolina, Stroud’s odds to be the second pick in the draft are falling per DraftKings. As of Tuesday, Stroud has fallen behind a pair of other prospects in the odds to be selected No. 2 overall, a pick currently held by the Houston Texans.

According to DraftKings, Alabama pass-rusher Will Anderson has the top odds to become the pick at +150. Anderson is followed by Kentucky QB Will Levis at +210 with Stroud listed at +250 at the time of this writing.

Draft outlook for CJ Stroud

Prior to this point, nearly every major analyst has been projecting Stroud as the second player off the board in the draft to the Texans. It is unclear if the odds reflect a shift in Houston’s attitude toward Stroud or are rather a reflection of the money coming in ahead of the draft.

Then again, it’s possible Houston is trying to trade the pick away to a team looking for an impact defender in Anderson. However, there have not been any significant reports indicating a deal is likely at this time.

If the Panthers and Texans pass on Stroud, other teams to watch early in the draft would be the Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks or Las Vegas Raiders.
