College Football Playoff committee chair Boo Corrigan sat down with ESPN’s Rece Davis after the release of the 1st CFP Rankings of the 2022 season.
Corrigan was asked why the committee decided to put Ohio State at No. 2 ahead of Georgia, who is ranked No. 3.
Corrigan pointed to the “explosive nature” of Ohio State’s offense, specifically pointing out C.J. Stroud and Marvin Harrison Jr.

Corrigan added the following in support of putting Ohio State at No. 2.
The win over Penn State, the way they came back to win that game. Again, very close, 2 well-balanced teams, but at the end of the day the committee decided that we would go with Ohio State at No. 2 and Georgia at No. 3.
Ohio State and Georgia are both a perfect 8-0 on the season. Georgia will face the No. 1 team in the CFP rankings in Week 10 when they play host to the Volunteers. Ohio State travels to Northwestern.
