Contract extension coming Ryan Day's direction following first season at Ohio State
Ryan Day needed just one season to prove he’s the right guy at Ohio State. After just one season as the head coach of the Buckeyes, he’ll be receiving a contract extension and a raise.
Eleven Warriors is reporting that Day is set to receive a three-year contract extension, keeping him in Columbus through the 2026 football season. The new deal will also pay the head coach over $20 million over the next three seasons.

The Ohio State University Board of Trustees is expected to approve the new contract extension later this week.
Per Eleven Warriors, Day will receive $5.74 million for the 2020 season, with Ohio State making a $1 million contribution to his retirement fund before the end of the year. Day will then net $6.5 million in 2021 and $7.6 million in 2022.
Compensation and pay structure for the 2023-2026 seasons have yet to be determined. Day’s initial contract at Ohio State paid him $4.5 million in 2019 and was good through the 2023 season.
Day led the Buckeyes to a third-straight B1G title this season and a berth in the College Football Playoff, the program’s first since 2016. Ohio State finished the season 13-1.
