Not only has Clemson been a thorn in the side of Ohio State in the College Football Playoff era, but Swinney took things to a new level the past two weeks. Repeatedly, the Clemson head coach took shots at the Buckeyes, ranking them No. 11 in his coaches poll ballot and throwing shade at their six-game schedule in 2020.

But it was Ohio State that got the last laugh on Friday night. The Buckeyes pummeled the Tigers in the Sugar Bowl 49-28, advancing to the national title game, where they’ll play Alabama. And after the lopsided victory, OSU fans had a parting gift for Swinney.

A chant of “Dabo! Dabo!” broke out as Clemson left the field in New Orleans on Friday night. It was audible on ESPN’s broadcast:

Not only did Ohio State win, but it made a statement. Now, the Buckeyes sit just one victory away from claiming their second national championship in the College Football Playoff era.
