Dabo Swinney: ‘The ROY Bus is fueled up’ heading into CFP, Fiesta Bowl showdown

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney shared some interesting comments on Thursday evening when asked about being the favorite for the College Football Playoff Semifinal.
On Thursday, the head coaches of the CFP teams took part in a press conference in Atlanta to discuss the upcoming games. Well, everyone but Ohio State’s Ryan Day. He was too busy recruiting.
Swinney was on hand to discuss the CFP and the Fiesta Bowl matchup against the Buckeyes. One question directed his way had to do with the fact that Clemson is currently the betting favorite in the game. Currently, most teams have the Tigers as a 2-2.5-point favorite in the game.
The question for Swinney asked him if Clemson would be using the “ROY Bus” as motivation for the game, despite being the betting favorite. He went on to say that every year is a new one, but that the ROY Bus is also “fueled up” for the Tigers. When it comes to coaching, Swinney says you should take “free fuel,” or motivation, whenever it’s given:
“Not really. Every year you start over. We remind ourselves of that all the time. You got to earn it every single year.
But, yeah, the ROY Bus is fueled up, for sure. It’s been easy this year. I really haven’t had to do a whole lot. Pretty well stated on that, I think, on the record on all that stuff.
I think as a coach, you take free fuel any time you can get it. We got a good football team. We’ve earned our opportunity to get here. I’m proud of them.
At this point it doesn’t matter if you’re one, two, three or four, you’re going to play a great team. The margin for error is very small.
We just wanted to be here, to have that opportunity. We are what we are right now: we’re a team with a chance. Hopefully we can take advantage of that opportunity.”
Will the ROY Bus keep rolling, or will the Buckeyes have something to say about that? The CFP Semifinals are set for Dec. 28.
