Daniel Jeremiah has high expectations for Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and even went as far as to say Smith-Njigba would lead the NFL in catches.

Speaking on the Joel Klatt podcast, the NFL Network draft analyst reacted to Klatt’s opinion that Smith-Njigba is the best wide receiver in the draft, and improved his profile at the NFL Combine.

Jeremiah agreed and said that Smith-Njigba is quick and strong, and will play more in a crowd than previous Ohio State wide receivers, especially with “combat catches.”

“Which is a good thing and a bad thing,” he said. “He’s not going to get the separation that those guys get in the NFL, but he’s stronger,” Jeremiah said.

The NFL comparison Jeremiah gave Smith-Njigba is Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions.

“I think he’ll be a high volume guy, I really do,” Jeremiah said. “It’s a power statement to say somebody’s going to lead the league in receptions, I think it’s a power statement on your part, but I don’t think it’s crazy. I wouldn’t fight you on that. I could see that happening.”
