Desmond Howard put out his list of teams that are trending in the right and wrong directions after what happened in Week 8. Ohio State was the only B1G team to make his list.

After the 54-10 win over Iowa Howard sees Ohio State as a team that is trending upwards. His other risers were Oregon, Tulane, and Liberty. The flip side had Syracuse, Ole Miss, UCLA, and UCF.

The Buckeyes’ offense took a while to get going. Iowa actually lead 7-3 for the first few minutes of the game. The Hawkeyes were then outscored 51-3 the rest of the way as Ohio State moved to 7-0.

At this point last season, Ohio State had one loss after getting beat by Oregon in Week 2.

One thing that has changed for Ohio State has been the defense. Jim Knowles has completely changed the identity of the defense after coming over from Oklahoma State.

The biggest problem for the defense last year was pass defense. Ohio State is averaging 149 yards passing allowed per game under Knowles.

Ohio State faces Penn State away from home next.
