Desmond Howard is not buying into Ohio State this season. College football is heading into Week 9 action, and the country will see the first version of the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday.

To preview that, the College GameDay crew unveiled their CFP predictions as things currently stand. In his top 6, Howard had Georgia, Michigan, Florida State and Oklahoma as his likely top 4.

Howard went with Washington as his first team outside of the top 4 at No. 5. As for Ohio State, Howard had the Buckeyes no higher than No. 6.

Howard began his segment by talking down to the Notre Dame win as a good victory but one that “wasn’t dominant.” He also said Kyle McCord did not find a way to get going against Penn State until targeting “the best WR” in the country in the second half.

“I don’t have a lot of faith in Notre Dame… (Ohio State) won the game but it was the last second. It wasn’t dominant,” Howard said. “I want to see a team that’s dominant. I think Kyle McCord is a guy who last week, didn’t play great in the first half but then he has the best WR in college football, they found a way to get him the ball and to me, that was the difference in the second half.”

As for the No. 6 ranking, Howard said he hasn’t seen enough out of McCord or Ohio State’s RBs. That includes TreVeyon Henderson who Howard claims was supposed to be able to go weeks ago but hasn’t played.

“I still need to see more out of Kyle McCord. I still need to see their running backs play on a consistent basis. Every week we hear that TreVeyon Henderson — who’s a stud — is available and then doesn’t play,” Howard explained. “So it’s just so many question marks with Ohio State that I can’t rank them above No. 6 right now.”
