It hasn’t been an easy ride for former Ohio State DB Jeff Okudah. The Detroit Lions defender has had a multitude of injuries since joining the NFL, but is looking much better according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Okudah 1st starting having injury problems during his rookie season. He had 3 separate injuries during his 1st NFL season, including a hamstring injury, shoulder injury, and groin injury just months apart from each other. Year 2 wasn’t much better, as he ruptured his achilles in Week 1, knocking him out for the remainder of the year.

In his most recent preseason outing against the Atlanta Falcons, Okudah finished with 3 total and solo tackles. Dan Campbell liked what he saw from the former Buckeye.

“Listen, he did some good things,” Campbell said Monday. “It was encouraging. We came out of this game encouraged with Jeff.”

What’s important is just getting to see Okudah on the field again, according to Campbell. He was really encouraged by what he saw from him.

“It was like, ‘OK, this is pretty good,’ just to see him get up there and press a little bit, challenge, and then, man, he’s getting involved in some of these tackles,” Campbell said. “And so I would say we were encouraged. That’s the best way to say it, it was encouraging.”
