An Ohio State legend is getting a special recognition at the end of this month.

The Detroit Lions announced Chris Spielman, an All-American linebacker during his time with the Buckeyes, will have his name added to the team’s Ring of Honor (“The Pride of the Lions”) on Oct. 31. After starring at Ohio State, Spielman spent 8 years with Detroit.

“The Detroit Lions could not be prouder of Chris Spielman’s accomplishments on the field and in the community. He was pivotal to the success the team enjoyed during his time as a player and his induction into the Pride of the Lions cements his place in our history,” said Detroit Lions Team President and CEO Rod Wood via press release. “We are thrilled Chris has rejoined the organization as a key member to build the future and we are proud to present him with the highest individual honor we can give to a Lions Legend.”

Spielman would be named to 4 Pro Bowls and was named to 1 All-Pro team during his time with the Lions. He finished with over 1,100 tackles in his Detroit career with 12 forced fumbles and 4 interceptions.

The Lions surprised Spielman with the announcement by bringing him in under the guise of producing an announcement video. The catch? Spielman read his own announcement off the teleprompter.

It was a wonderful moment that left Spielman in tears:

Congratulations to Spielman on such an awesome honor and incredible career!
