Devin Brown and Carnell Tate are getting some extended playing time in Week 3 as Ohio State has built a big lead over Western Kentucky. The duo did not wait long before showing fans a glimpse of what to expect for the future.

Facing a 2nd-and-7 play from the 28-yard line, Ohio State dialed up a quick play-action to try and freeze the defense. Tate also pulled off a beautiful stop-and-go route, hitting a nice move on the outside.

After that, it was a picture-perfect throw from Brown that led Tate toward the pylon. A smooth grab and effort to get two feet inbounds produced the first Ohio State score by either player.

Brown was notably involved in the starting QB competition with McCord but was informed this week that McCord is the full-time starter moving forward. He entered Week 3 having completed 8-of-16 passes for 99 yards.

Tate is understandably fighting for playing time in the deep and elite WR room for the Buckeyes but has elite potential. The true freshman entered Week 3 with 2 catches for 35 yards to his tally.

Even if they bide their time for a year, the connection of Brown and Tate is one that should provide dividends for the Buckeye offense down the road.
