Devin Brown appears to be conceding that Kyle McCord will remain Ohio State’s QB1.

McCord had a strong outing on Saturday against Youngstown State, going 14-of-20 passing for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns in OSU’s 35-7 victory. While McCord appeared to seize the QB1 title, Brown also had his moments. Brown completed 7-of-13 passes for 101 yards, also showing off his scrambling ability.

In his postgame comments, Ryan Day did not formally settle the QB competition. Brown, however, spoke as if he knows McCord will be the permanent starter for Week 3 and beyond. The Buckeyes and their fans will appreciate that Brown is taking a team-first approach.

OSU faces Western Kentucky on Sept. 16. The game is set for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff and will air on FOX.
