Devin Brown, freshman Ohio State QB, confirms 2023 status on social media
Devin Brown was a 4-star member of Ohio State’s 2022 recruiting class. With CJ Stroud expected to depart for the 2023 NFL Draft after the College Football Playoff, Brown took time to address his plans for 2023 on social media.
Brown used a video clip on Twitter to address next season. The clip features a card dealer discussing a player “Hanging around, hanging around… can’t get rid of him.” Matt Damon’s character responded with “I’m not going anywhere.”

It’s safe to say Brown will be sticking with the Buckeyes in this era of players looking to move around via the transfer portal.

Brown appeared in two games for the Buckeyes this season but did not attempt a pass. Coming out of high school, Brown was rated as the No. 6 QB nationally and the No. 43 player in the country per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
While Brown’s decision is not necessarily surprising, it sets up a huge QB battle for the Buckeyes this offseason if Stroud does indeed depart for the NFL. Brown and Kyle McCord — a 5-star prospect and the No. 6 QB via the class of 2021 — would be the players projected to battle for the starting QB spot in 2023.
