Devin Brown leaves Cotton Bowl with early injury
Devin Brown’s first career start in the Cotton Bowl has not gone well, and Ohio State’s new starting quarterback exited the game in the second quarter.
Brown is trying to gut things out after an injury in the first quarter of action. He initially suffered a blow to his left foot or ankle and was clearly hobbled at times throughout the rest of the quarter.
The QB was spotted on the sideline being tended to and getting taped up before staying in the game. However, he was drilled by a blindside rusher in the second quarter and was clearly hurting after the hit.
ESPN’s broadcast crew eventually spotted Brown leaving for the locker room, and he was in clear pain before departing. Brown exited the game after going 4-for-6 passing for 20 yards but was sacked a few times.
In place of Brown, true freshman Lincoln Kienholz has entered the game with regular-season starter Kyle McCord already transferring to Syracuse. Veteran collegiate player and former Oregon State QB Tristan Gebbia was also on the roster this season.
We’ll see how things develop for Ryan Day’s squad, but the offensive game plan for the Buckeyes has been tilted on its end in the Cotton Bowl.
