Devin Brown has apparently changed his uniform number for this upcoming season.

Reporters in Columbus shared on Tuesday morning that Brown is now wearing No. 33. Brown was previously No. 15.

As Bill Rabinowitz points out, the switch is a possible homage to the great Sammy Baugh, who also donned No. 33. Baugh played in the NFL from 1937-52.

Brown recently tweeted about Baugh’s legacy:

Brown is competing with Kyle McCord for Ohio State’s starting quarterback job this spring. The Buckeyes will be looking to replace CJ Stroud, who could be a top 10 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Brown is originally from Gilbert, Arizona. He was a 4-star quarterback in the class of 2022.

Last season, Brown saw very limited playing time. He ran the ball 1 time for 1 yard and did not attempt a pass. McCord was Ohio State’s primary backup last season and threw for 190 yards and 1 touchdown.

Ohio State fans will get the chance to see both quarterbacks during the Buckeyes’ spring game on April 15.
