Bri’onte Dunn was dismissed from Ohio State on Monday for a “violation of team rules.”

According to the Columbus Dispatch, that violation involved hitting his girlfriend. The former Ohio State tailback reportedly hit and choked her on Sunday afternoon.

The Dispatch reported this exchange between Dunn’s girlfriend and the police dispatcher:

Sunday afternoon, the woman, crying uncontrollably, called 911 to say: “My boyfriend hit me really bad.”

The woman said that the man struck her in the mouth and then briefly left her apartment on the Northwest Side. She said she left the apartment and came back, and when he saw she had her phone out “he went crazy.” She said he then choked her and left.

“My lip is bleeding and I have a black eye,” the woman said.

The woman reportedly filed for a protection order against Dunn, but there haven’t been any criminal charges filed yet.

Dunn’s dismissal came after an up-and-down four years in Columbus. The former four-star recruit was expected to compete with Mike Weber for the starting job in 2016.
