Dwayne Haskins is becoming even harder to ignore. Whether its his stat line or watching him on Saturday afternoons, the Ohio State quarterback is making a splash across the country.

And he’s going to have people bowing in Columbus soon.

Ohio State, and the B1G, haven’t had a Heisman winner since Troy Smith claimed the award in 2006. He’s often considered to be one of the greatest Buckeye quarterbacks in program history. But Haskins could be changing that.

In a big way.

Through Smith’s first four games of the 2006 season, he was responsible for 888 yards and eight touchdowns, according to 247Sports. That’s a pretty solid stat line. But Haskins has put those numbers to shame this season.

After four weeks of the 2018 season, Haskins has accounted for 1,222 total yards and 17 touchdowns. He’s also hit 15 touchdown passes through his first four games of the season, the first B1G quarterback to accomplish that feat in over a decade.

Smith finished with 2,542 passing yards and 30 touchdowns through the air in 2006.

Haskins is also just the third Ohio State player to have multiple five-passing-touchdown games. The other two are J.T. Barrett and Bobby Hoying.

Because of Haskins’ efforts, Ohio State owns the second-best offense nationally, averaging 54.5 points per game after four weeks.

There’s still a long way to go, and there are plenty of challenges ahead on Ohio State’s schedule. But Haskins could be on the path to an unprecedented amount of success this season.
